This single secondary socket is easy to install...normally only two wires are required...one to pin 2 and the other to pin 5. Sockets 3/3A are not supplied with the back box but this can be ordered separately for an additional £0.93.  Often used to connect a system-phone to a traditional analogue port on a phone system.  It is referred to as a 'secondary' because it does not have a ringing capacitor, whereas a master phone connection box does.  This device is sometimes referred to as a phone connection box, phone socket, or line jack unit.
